Piping and Pump Analysis

Given a water piping/pump schematic, I had to analyze the network using EPANET and determine the following for different various pipes/fittings/valves of the pipe: Volume Flow-Rate, Diameter, Effective Length. a System-Demand-Curve and a Pump-Curve were generated to show the optimum operating pump for the curve.

THERMAL SYSTEMS DESIGN

Water Hammer Analysis

A water line is connected to two reservoirs at different elevations. A control valve is at the entrance to the downstream reservoir can shut the flow off by reducing the flow linearly from its steady state value to zero in 20 seconds. Assuming the pipe is can be considered thin-walled, find the maximum and minimum pressure heads which will occur in the pipe.

Super-Heater Analysis

A super-heater is a counter flow heat exchanger used in power plant systems in order to transfer heat from hot exhaust flue gases to saturated steam in order to increase the steam's temperature before it enters the turbine (Rankine Cycle). With given requirements, design a super-heater to address different issues based on the given requirements.

MINIATURE WIND TURBINE PROJECT

MAY 2017

Thermodynamics

This project was to manufacture a wind turbine that would be able to charge a small electronic device. The motor was used from an PlayStation 2 controller which was originally used as a motion motor to vibrate the controller. The turbine was created in SolidWorks and 3D Printed from PLA Filament. A DC-DC Converter Step Up Boost Module was used to step up the 1 Volt to 5 Volts needed to charge the electrical device. This Boost Module had a usb connection that anyone could use to plug in their electronic device.
